Blue Hawaii on a Budget | $1.77 Drink Tiki Recipe
Today we're going to show you how to make the Blue Hawaii tiki cocktail recipe on a budget. This beverage will cost you about $1.77 per drink if you make it at home. The recipe: bit.ly/3W56kIx
Bartender Starter Kit: bit.ly/3XtufUy
The Blue Hawaii is a cocktail designed in 1957 by Harry Yee, a native Hawaiian that died at 104 years old. He was a famous bartender that was part of the original tiki culture and worked to promote these great cocktails to their patrons and tourists.
The Blue Hawaii
3/4 oz Vodka
3/4 oz Light Rum
1 oz Blue Curacao
3 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Sour Mix
The flavor profile ends up being pineapple driven, as you'd expect, but with some nice orange citrus center and a light sour bite at the end. Easy, refreshing and fun. Great for pool parties or blended.
Sour Mix Ratio:
1 parts of Lemon
1 parts of Lime
2 parts of Simple Syrup
Of course, there is no other spirits that drive through on flavor because puerto rican rum is pretty light on flavor, vodka has no flavor, and the rest is basically citrus, sweets, and juices.

Toooo looong for something that could be done or explained in 2 minutes
That’s all on you, the video length is right there as are all the other videos that cover this from other creators, it’s not my fault you clicked on mine
@@cmcocktails didn't mean it in a negative way. Maybe I saw a similar video so i commented
@@cmcocktails don't get me wrong. Every clip is for someone who is at a different stage. So maybe I had seen a few earlier. You have done a good job.
It's freak'n awesome...its al.ost syrupy...
This is a cool lesson
Thanks
The number one coctail
I found my Coole Swan today, it was never opened but it's BB date was 02/2024, it's 20/07/2024. My question is: is it still good to drink it?
Awesome, I suggest you watch the video as it explains everything :)
@@cmcocktails I did watch the video but English is not my first language and as I wasn't sure if I understood well the thing about "two years", I simply asked this question. I can see it's too hard to simply be kind and answer. 🙄
Elijah Craig small batch Is my #1, 1792 small batch #2. I don't like the other too. You guys know your Bourbon for sure. I drink them neat most of the time and 1 & 2 are great for a mid-30's US Dollar.
Super great.. only, what else can I ever use the Blue Curacao in?
There are plenty of options for blue curacao use, outside (of course) of using it for any cocktail that calls for orange liqueur (e.g. margarita). The Blue Hawaiian, Adios Mother Fucker (AMF) which is like a long island iced tea (but blue, with sprite instead of coke), Blue Lagoon, the layered shot that's red white and blue (often for 4th of july, etc.), the alien brain hemorrhage shot, and probably a few dozen others that I've not really put a lot of time into. I've done tons of them over the years, but not all of them are probably classic or the best cocktails I've had, but may be worth trying. For me, I always have at least one bottle on hand because of this cocktail, the blue Hawaiian, and the AMF. Those 3 alone justify keeping a $10 in my inventory :) Or, if you ever have someone come over that wants "something different", you can sub in blue curacao for orange liqueur and make it look new and exciting even if it's an old classic :)
@@cmcocktails Oh ok.. hey if it subs for orange liqueur in general I can see it being used alot.. thanks for the tip and great videos
@@userperson5259 blue curaçao is an orange liqueur. It just happens to be blue
@@cmcocktails Never knew that! You are truly teaching me how to drink..
This is a great series. I like it.
Thanks :) Something to do while inflation is high and people are looking to save money. I know they say the inflation numbers "are down", but it's kinda a game. When I can go to the grocery store and buy groceries for a reasonable amount of money, I'll agree "inflation is down"
Nice. Fortunately for me, most of my buddies are rocks or single ingredient drinks. But, I need to practice up on some 'interesting' drinks. Thanks for what you do! :)
Yeah that is a winter drink, whiskey in a glass. Not for the heat :-)
This is a great series. A bar that used these recipes could sell the drinks for $9 or $10 each and still make money.
Sure, they’d make $8 a cocktail, but they start at $15 from what I see on some menus
@@cmcocktails Well, that's my point. They could do $9.99 happy hour drinks and still make money.
And restaurants would likely charge $15+ for an inferior version. Loving this series!
yeah, as a good starting minimum, but if you were ordering that as a tourist to somewhere like Waikiki I bet it's easy $20+
well, one of the bars in that hotel is charging $15 for one; just checked their online menu :)
Fun and interesting series you got going.
haha, thanks. Recorded it a few hours ago and got it up. Forgot I had to get a video out today lol
I agree
I love your content
thanks!
I've even poured the French Connection over a bowl of French vanilla ice cream... because I'm just "extra" like that. 😂
Okay
you all are hilarious! just wanted to watch a review while tasting the maestro dobel and how can you not tell this is a crystalino. it’s smokey with some oak so it’s gotta be aged. it really doesn’t taste like any plata, silver or blanco tequila i’ve ever had. still it was nice to hear what other folk think of this tequila. not a fan of the bottle. looks cool but a bit too tall for the shelf. tastes similar to don julio 70. i like it
primarily because people sometimes just send me random stuff, and I put it to the side for filming, then when I need extra content we would review it... so you go in blind. I hate reading any of the PR fluff they send because it's going to make you "like" it more before you've even tried it
What Jose is not tequila!?! Shocker!!! 😂
missing doug
rewatching some of these is my favorite thing to do
Worst margarita ever. Sino pones sal y no usas contruo no sabes hacer margaritas
Perhaps you missed the concept presented on the title, this is a margarita with margarita mix. If you like a traditional recipe we have done that too, but I don’t use salt because it usually makes them worse. That’s a personal, optional, ingredient.
Great video
Thanks
@@cmcocktails The recent budget series is a good idea - especially for summer. Are you going to do a live marathon anytime soon? I don't usually watch the whole thing live, but I watch/listen later.
Yeah, eventually. Summer is a tough time to get folks to commit on a Friday or Saturday night
Reason I love this channel because we all agree Jose Cuervo tastes like g-ass-oline. Loving the Cocktail Quickies.
Yep, it’s what teaches people that “I don’t like tequila” phrase
Refreshing summer brew! Too bad tequila is hella expensive here in Canada.
How much is Hornitos there?
Hornitos Plata Tequila 750 mL $47.99 Canadian where I live
Love Buffalo Trace and 1792, haven't tried the other two
Yeah you sound like you're using Cocchi alright....... Wtf, calm down like. 56 seconds in and I want to jump off a bridge.
I like a good Cadillac Margarita
Awesome... prefer Cointreau but this looks good
yeah, that's definitely going to raise the price per cocktail :)
@@cmcocktails No kidding.. stuff is expensive anymore.. I just don't want High Fructose Corn Syrup in my cocktail... I'm afraid cheap Triple Sec probably has that... Hey AI says Dekuyper doesn't have it. Dekuyper for the win!
I doubt it, unless they have a different recipe for other countries, many countries don’t allow HFCS. But, then again what is the fear of HFCS if your literally poisoning yourself with alcohol :-)
@@cmcocktails I prefer "natural" poison. 😁
I lime mezcal’s alot better than tequila but i always saw Patron as a good steady Eddie never disappointed in it
Delicious rum. I just cracked open this bottle. I have tried their coconut expression. These rums just hit different. They definitely were on the higher price side in total wine fl. But IMO its worth the price. I bet this makes a killer cocktail.
Thanks for the nice easy to do recipe, like the idea of the frozen strawberries that can always be kept handy. If we live in the best country in the world (and I agree) then why is it the left/liberals want us to hate it and have said they intend to "fundamentally" change it?
I dunno, none of my left liberal friends say that, maybe that’s just what they say on social media. Then there is reality
@@cmcocktails Those are the words of a recent president very popular with liberals. He and his wife stated they hated the America they grew up in and were going to fundamentally change it. The statements are a matter of record, and words mean things. Why someone would vote for and champion someone who said that about their country I cannot fathom.
If words mean things than we are in a lot of trouble, lol. Because we have a current president that can barely say words and another that has said quite a few bad words about a lot of people .. lol. I have already decided who I’m voting for and that person is under the age of 75
@@cmcocktails Bad words, when warranted are not an undesirable thing. Everything is not perfect and beyond repute. You have to remember that a lot of people have said quite a few bad words about him in pursuit of their own agendas, not the least of which was his opponent in the debate calling him a liar after he himself stated no serviceman had died under his administration, the U.S. has a thousand trillionaires and "we" killed Medicare. Good to see though that you are voting, as many seem not to realize the responsibility that comes with that franchise and are waiting for that "perfect" candidate that is in total alignment with their beliefs, which ain't gonna happen.
I’m not new to voting, I have been voting since I was 18, I think that was Bill Clinton. But, there is no way in hell I can vote for either of these horrible two choices, and refuse to live on a world that won’t admit the two party system is a tradition not a requirement
Frozen fruit for the win!!
Very good, made my mouth water! ;)
Awesome video. I reserve the right to use fresh strawberries during peak strawberry season (when they might be cheaper than frozen some places).
Fresh strawberries are fine, you can get a device to get the little heads off (or a knife) and it's fine.
Hey Derrick! Long time no see my friend! Listen some buddies of mine run a distillery in Gatlinburg pretty close by where Ole Smoky is called Sugarlands moonshine you should try out some of their products because man let me tell you as a moonshine guy they are as close to backwoods as you can get!
Yeah, probably the ones we did 6 years ago here ua-cam.com/video/mp33qlGEp7I/v-deo.html

Hello😊 , I brought a Bacardi lime mojito 3 years ago, it’s still unopened. But I can’t find any expiration on the whole bottle. Wanna ask can it still be consumed?
you'll probably want to contact bacardi, I don't represent them and couldn't speak on their behalf on how they handle their product line. Is this a flavored rum or a mixer? If it's just flavored rum, then it's probably fine because it's alcohol. Otherwise, not sure.
Limes 25 cents apiece at Wally World in Northern New England.
Nice, I’d pay $0.20 extra never to go into that hellhole tho :-)
@@cmcocktails I hear ya. LOL. Unfortunately, in the remote hinterlands I live in there aren't a lot of choices. As ridiculous as it sounds, we feel fortunate to have our little Wal Mart.
Holy sh!t I haven’t seen Doug in over a decade! Catching up on your videos lol
haha, yeah, he swings by every year or so, but usually not long enough to hang out for more than an hour or so.
They sell passable almond syrup in the coffee section of your local grocer for pretty cheap if you need to save even more.
not often do I see it, but sometimes. Most of the stuff they sell, around here anyway, is caramel, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, and "standard" flavors, you gotta go out of your way to get almond. But, you can get Torani Almond Syrup on amazon for like $14 for a 25 oz bottle. That still seems a bit steep, thought it was like $6 a bottle, but maybe that was pre-pandemic before the US printed money out of existence.
And they do use squirt in Mexico.
You guys missed the salt. Shake of salt in each glass with the tequila before you add the squirt.
we didn't miss the salt, it's pretty much always optional (and usually rimming of glasses). While a pinch of salt doesn't hurt, it also tends to reduce the tartness you may get from some of the beverages, if this was a super tart drink it would definitely help, but it's just not tart enough for me to care.
Great video. I enjoyed it.
thanks
Mai Tai always a summer favourite!!!
yeah, ended up making them last Sunday, added a bit of Dole Pineapple/Orange to it (and a bit of orange liqueur) instead of orange curacao.
I just watched the orange liquor video and margarita video. Is Ferrand your go to now? I love it but should I try Grand Marnier for margaritas?
Time for a new orange liquor video? Ferrand dry curaçao is popular now.
yeah, we use it all the time (like in the latest video), but I don't think we need a massive blind tasting to know it's tasty :)
Ten years later. I still have an empty bottle I drank and an unopened bottle. Wonder how many are left unopened after the 100k bottles made
Bro put in 1 oz of simple syrup instead of 1 tsp, and he put 3 dashes of bitters instead of 3 drops. Wtf
yep, looks like he did 1 oz instead of 1/4 oz -- but 3 drops of ango is dumb, 3 dashes makes far more sense, who doesn't love ango.
I just needed to get clarification and you did it thanks
